Roy G. Holtzapple, age 83, of rural Wapakoneta, died 3:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2015.
He was born August 20, 1931 in Buckland, Ohio; the son of the late Carl William and Sara Jane Vulgamott Holtzapple. On May 5, 1951 he married Evelyn Mae Lambert who died June 25, 2009.
Mr. Holtzapple retired as a welder from Lima Register Company. He was a member of the Buckland United Church of Christ. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, working in the garden, mowing, mushroom hunting, target shooting, woodworking, and bowling. He was a devoted husband taking care of his wife for 15 years, who was suffering from Alzheimer's.
Survivors include – 2 sons – Roy William (Dianne) Holtzapple of Wapakoneta; Rick Allen Holtzapple of Palm Springs, CA; 2 daughters – Linda Jean (Mike) Allen of Quincy, OH; Ann Louise (Anthony) Shoffstall of Wapakoneta; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; a sister – Hanna J. Krites of Buckland; and a sister-in-law – Mary Holtzapple; brothers and sisters-in-law – Dave 'Bud' (Jeanette) Lambert and Betty (Jim 'Buzz') Alder.
He was preceded in death by a brother – Harmon H. Holtzapple; brothers-in-law – Glenn Krites, William Lambert, and a granddaughter – Mindy Lanae Allen.
Funeral services will begin 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 13, 2015 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Rev. Kent Place will officiate. Burial will follow in Buckland Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
