Roy Gilbert Michell Jr.
Holt, MI
Formerly of Rochester, MI

Roy Michell Jr. was born January 12, 1923 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Roy Gilbert and Ruth Naomi (Jackson) Michell, and passed away September 3, 2017 in Lansing, Michigan at age 94.
Roy was a graduate from St. Johns Military Academy and GMI where he received his BA in Engineering. After his first year and a half of college he enlisted in the Navy and then went on to serve his country in the US Navy-WWII Pacific, from June 1943 to Jan. 1946. He was proud of his military service and the fact that he was a direct descendant of General "Stonewall" Jackson. After the war he worked for his dad's company at Eclipse Counterbore (Ferndale, MI) and then many years for GM.

One of his favorite quotes he would say in German and translate to English was from Werner Heisenberg: "Only a few know, how much one must know, in order to know, how little one knows." He was avid reader, esp. of the Bible and student of history, esp. of the Civil War. He enjoyed guns and prided himself as being an "amateur gunsmith."

Roy held many memberships including the NRA, MI-RTL, AFA and Intercessors For America, IFA. He was very passionate about helping the community, and in 1985 was founding President of the Rochester Crisis Pregnancy Center where he served 12 years. Along with his father, he was a founding Trustee of RGM Charitable Foundation and Trust.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Ruth Michell, sister, Marie Michell Robinson (1944) and daughter Cheryl Michell (2016). Left to cherish memories of Roy are his loving wife of 31 years Ann L. (Galius) Michell, sons William (Barbara) Michell, Lloyd (Shelly) Michell, daughter Annette Michell, grandchildren Sarena Nichol, Larissa Boyce, Angela Joseph, Tessa Nichol, Michell Carley, David Reisler, Ashlin Michell, Bailey Michell, and great-grandchildren Micah Nichol, Ari Nichol, Liora Nichol, Kaiden Boyce, Trevin Boyce, Elliana Boyce, Skyler Boyce, Jacob Carley, Madelyn Carley, Seth Reisler, Courtney Reisler, Austin Reisler, Grayson Reisler, and Zachariah Nichol.

Memorial service is Monday September 11, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Lansing, 3448 Hagadorn Rd., Okemos, MI 48864 with visitation 1 hour prior to service.

Arrangements under the direction of Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Williamston, MI.
