Ruth graduated from Appalachian State University and taught briefly at Valdese Elementary School. She began her banking career at Wachovia. There she retired as Vice President of Purchasing in 1993.
After retiring, Ruth began playing golf and was very proud of the fact that she had scored 3 holes in one. Her golfing buddies were a very cherished part of her life. The family appreciates all the care and support given to Ruth during her illness. She also valued her friendships with her friends from Wachovia and their monthly meal together.
