Samuel M. "Mack" Wright, 93 of Tollesboro passed away Friday, February 20, 2015 at Maysville Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility. Mack was Born August 15, 1921 to the late John Albert and Marie Wright, Brown's Run in Lewis County.
Mr. Wright was a WWII Combat Veteran of the Pacific Theatre; 65 Year Member of the Tollesboro Christian Church, Serving as Deacon Elder, Sunday School Superintendent, Bible Teacher and Servant delivering meals, visiting and helping those in need. He was also a charter member of over 61 years with the Tollesboro Lion's Club, serving in every capacity locally as well as at the zone and district level Mack chaired the Lion's Horse show for over 30 years. Mack was a retired farmer and also worked at Wald's, Browning's and owned and operated Wright's Grocery in Tollesboro for several years. He had a real passion for cattle and talking to people.
Mack was an avid fan of Tollesboro, Mason County and University of Kentucky basketball and a follower of the Reds through thick and thin. He was a lover of life, worked hard, complained little and felt truly blessed.
Mr. Wright is survived by his son Kirby (Terri) Wright; Daughter Kathy (Gary) Orner; sister Minette Willison; grandsons Doug Orner, John (Cherish) Wright, Matthew (Gina) Wright; great grandchildren Sam, Emma, Luke and Hannah Wright, Ben Orner and Baylee Klingel. Mr. Wright also leaves a special friend Mrs. Lillian Secrest. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Lois Breeze Wright, infant son Samuel M. Wright Jr.; grandson Joey Orner; brothers Damon, Bernice; sisters Gayle wright and Ada Frances Kennan
Funeral Services for Mr. Wright will be Tuesday, February24, 2015, 11AM at the Tollesboro Christian Church with Bro. Layne Wagner and Bro. Kelly Bierley officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jim Harris, Steven Pedersen, Roger Ferguson, Billy Fisher, John Wright, Matthew Wright. Honorary Pallbearers Jim Meadows, Gerald Meadows, John Wallingford, Darrell Dixon, Dale Corns, Mark Ripato, Doug Orner, Loretta Dixon. Visitation will be Monday, February 23, 2015, 5-8PM at the church.
