Sandra Cowan, 62 of Yorkville, Tennessee died on Sunday, July 16, 2017, at Regional One Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee.
Born Saturday, April 9, 1955 in Humboldt, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late William Adolph Beard and Mary Josephine Walker Beard. She was the salutatorian of the 1973 Class of Rutherford High School. Mrs. Cowan was the Office Manager and Payroll Clerk for Hobbs Bonded Fibers in Trenton, Tennessee and a former employee of the Division Office of Kellwood. She was a devoted member of the Bells Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she served as pianist and church secretary.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Bells Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dennis Emmerson and Rev. Bobby Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Bells Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, July 21, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Saturday from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at Bells Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her husband, Johnny Cowan of Yorkville, Tennessee; one son, J. D. Cowan and his wife, Tabitha of Yorkville, Tennessee; one grandson, Drake Cowan of Yorkville, Tennessee; her mother, Josephine Beard of Dyer, Tennessee ; one sister, Lisa O'Neal (Doug) of Jackson, Tennessee and one brother-in-law, Steve Cowan of Benton, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Adolph Beard.
Pallbearers will be J. D. Cowan, Drake Cowan, Marty Lannom, Mike Cardwell, Larry Boucher and Kenny Flowers. Honorary pallbearer will be Doug O'Neal.
In lieu of flowers that family ask that memorials be directed to Bells Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church or Bells Chapel Cemetery, 309 Bells Chapel Road, Dyer, Tennessee 38330.
