On Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, shortly after noon, the heavens were rejoicing as Sandra Kay Rogers Hartman transitioned from her earthly life to eternal glory with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Sandy was born on Dec. 31, 1946, the daughter of Dorothy (Davis) and Woodrow Rogers.
Sandy was a proud northender who attended Ridgley, Edison and Lanphier Schools. At Lanphier, Esther Duncan had a great influence on her life as did her mother and grandmother. She was a 1968 graduate of Greenville College and a lifelong student and teacher.
In 1969, she married Paul Hartman and soon became the world's best mother.
Sandy leaves behind her husband and four children: Paul Jr. (Tressa), Heather Daniel (Tony) both of Springfield, Stephen of Peoria, and Kimberly Larson (Jay) of Springfield. She also leaves behind five cherished grandsons, a brother, David (Chris) Rogers of Springfield, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, inlaws, nieces and nephews.
The family wants to acknowledge the valiant effort Sandy made, with the help of Mayo Clinic, Barnes Jewish Hospital and the Sitemen Cancer Center, to live until her grandsons could fully comprehend the love of God.
With deep gratitude, the family would also like to thank and praise the staff and residents of Concordia Village who joyfully assisted Sandy and them during the final three months of her earthly life.
