Scott Franklin King, 83, of the Broadway Community, passed away peacefully at his home in the loving arms of his family on Saturday, December 2, 2017.

Services, with Masonic Rites, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5th at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Pastor Brad Miller officiating. Burial will follow at McDonald Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Mr. King, the son of Ed & Josie Maude Brinkley King, was born Jan. 11, 1934, in Lamar County.

He graduated from Delmar High School. His career with Texas Highways & Public Transportation spanned many years before his retirement on Aug. 31, 1995.

He was a member of the Midway Community Church and the Midway Volunteer Fire Department. Scott loved his cows and watching his grandson, Jeff, play baseball.

He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite and the Shriners.

Survivors include his wife, Levina Sue Barnes King, whom he married on July 23, 1955, building sixty-two years of family and memories, one son, Ed King & wife Tammy of the Broadway Community, one grandson, Jeffrey Scott King of the Broadway Community, a sister, Fannie Jo Poteet of Kilgore along with several nieces, nephews & cousins and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ed, his mother, Josie Maude, and a sister, Eddie Driver.

Casket bearers will be: Dick Poteet, Kline Driver, Mickey Barnes, Jimmy Preston, Joe Miller & Benny Fields. Honorary bearers will be: Bill King and Jeff King.
