Dr. Sebastian V. Villa, 77, died at 9:06 am, Monday, September 25, 2017, at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville after 5 weeks of hospitalization due to cardiac complications.
Sebastian (also known as Bating to friends and family and Dodoy to family in the Philippines) was born on January 24, 1940, in Jamindan, Capiz Philippines.
He is survived by his wife Victorina; his daughter Jean (James), daughter Joyce (Gustavo), son Steve (Edna Marina), grandchildren Lillian, Maya, Charles, Dylan, SJ, Kalina, grandpups (Finnegan and Otto), sisters Consuelo, Magdalina, Felicitacion and numerous nieces & nephews in the U.S. and the Philippines.
He is preceded in death by his parents Julian and Ines, brothers Patrocinio and Francisco, sister Clarita and niece Enecita.
Sebastian studied to be a tailor by trade, but ended up going back to school to be Optometrist in the Philippines. In January 12, 1972, Sebastian and Vicky came to the U.S. to create a better life for themselves and their kids. He worked at House of Vision for many years and was a stock holder and worked at See Rite Optical, until eventually opening his own business Villa Optical Center at several Chicago locations. He loved sewing, gardening, dancing, swimming and staying up to date on current events.
