Selma Luvene (Shaw) Malphurs was born on March 4, 1912, in Calera, Alabama. She was the youngest of four girls. She met Coey at a dance in Birmingham and they later married in 1930. Their daughter, Barbara Anne was born in Galveston, Texas, in 1932. 1935 brought a move to West Palm Beach, Florida, where they started an egg business and enjoyed much success. Their son John Frank was born in West Palm Beach in 1948, and in 1958 the family moved to Lake Clarke Shores. Selma and Coey loved to travel and always had their bags packed. The intervening years brought the celebration of many marriages and births within the family. Along with her daughter and son, Selma also enjoyed her four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband and two of her grandchildren. She was a master duplicate bridge player, and a ruthless one at that, 'til the age of 104. Selma was a special lady to so many people and she will be greatly missed.
