Obituary for Sharon K Anderson

October 30, 1959 - December 15, 2018
Aurora, Illinois | Age 59

Sharon K. Anderson, 59 of Aurora, passed away Saturday December 15, 2018 at her home. She was born October 30, 1959 in Aurora the daughter of Aggie (Leggett) Oliver and the late T.A. Junior Oliver.

Sharon was the third child, their first daughter. When her mom wasn't around everyone knew "Sissy" was in charge. She went to Oak Park elementary school. She was baptized as child at Hillside Baptist Church. She graduated from East Aurora High School in 1977, involved in a numerous amount of activities and clubs. Her sense of fashion and style was seen through her ability to sew a new outfit for any occasion. She was a friend to all and dearly loved by so many as a young woman.

Sharon married Mark Minalga in 1978 in Aurora, IL. They moved to West Aurora and began a family. Sharon became a mother on November 27, 1979 with the birth of Bridget Lynn Minalga and again on October 7, 1983 with the birth of Brianna Kay Minalga. Her hope of two daughters was finally a reality. Bridget and Bri were her joy to raise.

She attended Waubonsee Community College and gained an associate's degree in Early Childhood Education. She spent a few years as a preschool teacher at Wesley United Methodist. The family attended Central Bible Church where Sharon used her creativity to design flower arrangements and decorate for Women's events.

In 1991, her dream of attending Beauty School began at Hair Professionals in Oswego, IL. She again was a friend to so many. Once she graduated as a licensed cosmetologist in 1992, she began working at Plaza Designs in Aurora, IL. She grew her clientele and eventually took clients in her home due to her health.

She was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 1994 at Mayo Clinic. An opportunity arose for her to become a teacher at Hair Professionals. She jumped at the opportunity—she could do what she loved and reduce the physical strain of being behind the chair. She had an opportunity to further her education and became a licensed esthetician working at Enzo Salon & Spa in Oswego, IL and eventually managed and taught at the Naperville Skin Institute in Naperville, IL.

In 2004 she met Marvin Anderson. Their bond was instant. He cared for her every need. They were married in 2005 on New Year's Eve surrounded by friends. They loved to have dinner with friends on Friday night and traveling to Treasure Island in Florida. They had a deep and selfless love for each other—true soul mates.

Sharon began caring for Marvin full-time in 2008. She eventually began teaching again after Marvin's fight ended in 2012.
Her joy in life was her family, her daughters Bridget (Minalga) (Dan) Lentz, Bri (Minalga) (Kolin) Dothager, especially her grandchildren—Dylan Lentz (18), Kaylee Dothager (7) and Bryce Dothager (4). She is survived by her exceptional mother, Aggie (Oliver) McDuffee, her caring older brother, Fred Oliver, her loving sister Janice (Ramiro) Tijerina.

In addition to her father and husband, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Richard McDuffee and her brother, Tucker Oliver.

She loved people. She never met a stranger. She had a way of making things "fabulous"—a word she loved to use. She knew heartache and she knew pain. She struggled with her health, but we believe her Savior was ready for her. He took her quickly without the pain she experienced for much of her life. She is reunited with Marvin, her family and so many friends who have gone before her.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday 7:00 p.m. December 19, 2018 with Gary Hollinger officiating at The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Pl., Aurora, IL 60506. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will be private.

Memorials in her name may be directed to Central Bible church, 940 W. Galena Blvd. Aurora, IL 60506 or her grandchildren's college fund.
