Sharon LaVon (Gibbs) Dunham passed away quietly on July 8, 2017 in Houston, Texas. She was born January 27, 1940 to Virginia & Harold Gibbs in Denver, Colorado. Sharon was an only child and was blessed to grow up with her grandmother Sudie Gibbs and grandparents Mini & Grover Vest living within a few blocks of each other. The family enjoyed yearly vacations in California with stops in Tahoe, Salt Lake, and other sites along the way.

Sharon met Victor (her husband to be) at the early age of 11. They courted through 7th, 8th, & 9th grades meeting at the Ogden Theater sharing popcorn and holding hands. Victor went to St Michaels in Santa Fe for 10th grade and Sharon visited with his family a couple of times during the year.
Sharon attended East High School in Denver and graduated in the spring of 1957. Her graduation gift from her Mother & Father was a set of luggage, because she told her parents she wanted to travel. This proved to be a prophetic gift. After graduation she went to work for an insurance agent in Denver.

In March of 1959 Victor proposed to Sharon on Lookout Mountain overlooking Denver and they were married on June 6, 1959 at Holy Family Church in Denver. Victor was in the Navy and their first home was in Olathe, Kansas. Over the next 26 years came four boys and a number of moves. The family lived in eight states and for three years in the Netherlands with extensive travel in Europe. Victor retired from the US Army in El Paso, Texas and went to work for a company that moved them nearly every two years. Are you beginning to see that Sharon's wish to travel and the gift from her Parents for graduation was indeed a prophetic gift?

Sharon's career, in addition to raising four boys, included secretary for IBM engineers, service center supervisor for IBM, Office Manager for a HVAC company, a purchasing agent for a Bank and retired from Texas Instrument after supervising the calculator call center in Dallas, Texas.

Sharon is survived by her husband Victor; four sons, Mark, Scott, Paul and Richard; four granddaughters, Heather Melton, Raquel Lopez, Caitlin King and Hannah Dunham and great grandson Jeremiah Melton and great granddaughter Ellie King; Sharon's three daughters-in-law who are like her own daughters, Stephane, Cheryl, and Holly.

Visitation will be from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Kingwood Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be at 12:00 pm on Friday, July 14, 2017 at St. Martha Catholic Church, 4301 Woodbridge Parkway, Porter, TX 77365.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Houston Hospice, 1905 Holcombe Blvd., Houston, TX 77030 www.houstonhospice.org
