Shirley C. (née Pollitt) Slover, 85, of Glasford, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2015 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

She was born October 29, 1929 at Duck Creek in Banner Township, Fulton County, Illinois to Hobart R. and Lucille Winifred (Romine) Pollitt. She married Leroy D. Slover on July 29, 1949 at the Glasford Baptist Church. He preceded her in death on May 2, 1988.

Surviving are her children, Mark (Susan) Slover of Plainfield, Illinois and Jeannine (Randy) Lox of Glasford; her grandchildren, Laurie (Paul) Visee, Maureen (Michael) Bentley, Kristan (Seth) Johnson, Gregory Slover, Wendy (Steve) Dilley, Jeffrey Lox, and Jacob (Lindsey) Lox; her great grandchildren, Braden, Logan, Makenna, Rese, Maddie and Edie; and her brother, Eugene (Sharon) Pollitt of Plainfield, Indiana.

She was a member of the Glasford Baptist Church.

She was proud to have worked as a secretary in the Export Division at Caterpillar, Inc from 1947 until 1952 when she became a full time mother.

She was a 1947 graduate of Timber Township High School and was proud to have earned the distinction of Class Valedictorian.

She was a passionate reader and enjoyed genealogical research.

Shirley will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who was especially proud of her family.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Monday, June 22, 2015 at the Davison-Fulton Woolsey Glasford Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Yeager officiating. Burial will follow at Lancaster Cemetery in Glasford. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Monday, from 9:30 until the time of service.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
