Born in Charleston, Si and his siblings were taken to Egypt by their father following the death of their mother. Si attended an English school in Alexandria and joined the U.S. Army Air Force when WWII began. Returning home, Si dedicated himself to the loving support of his family, working at Britt Tire, Plastic Products & Plywood, Valley Food (owner), Ellis Supermarket, U.S. Postal Service (from which he retired), and Zegeer Hardware, all while serving as bookkeeper for The Strand. Si’s strong work ethic and outgoing personality endeared him to everyone.

Si enjoyed watching Westerns, old movies, and sporting events. He was an excellent carpenter and handyman, helping family, friends, and neighbors. His warm smile, bright eyes, and giving heart will always be remembered.

We are forever grateful to his wonderful physician, Dr. Nicholas Cassis Jr., dear friends and additional daughters Karen (Bean) Pauley and Latashia (“Natasha”) Davenport, and hair stylist Peggy (“Peg o’ My Heart”) Howard.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 pm on Monday, Sept. 4 at St. George Cathedral, Lee and Court St., Charleston WV, with Trisagion prayers at 7:30. Funeral service to honor Si will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, Sept. 5 at the Cathedral, with visitation one hour prior to the service; Rev. Fr. Christopher Eid and Very Rev. Fr. Olof Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery, Charleston.
