Steve was born June 18, 1956 in Big Spring, Tx to Harold Joe and Bettye Smith. He grew up in Odessa, Tx, graduating in 1974 from Permian High School. He started out as a lineman for AT&T after graduation and eventually retired after 31 years of service. He was employed by Omega Chemicals for 7 years at the time of his death.
Steve found great joy in being a father to his daughter, Jesamy Ferguson, born July 11, 1983. He married the love of his life, Keira Oney, September 7, 1996. Steve was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to everyone he came across. He had a giving spirit that was unparalleled and was happiest when he was making others laugh and enjoy themselves. He was a member of the congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses since 1982.
