Stephen L. Hyman died on Monday, (June 30, 2008) at Hartford Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Sally (Kotlen) Hyman, and was born May 15, 1936 in Providence, RI, the son of William and Helen (Smith) Hyman. He was a long time employee of the Travelers Insurance, and then finished his professional career as a consultant to the State of Connecticut for several years. He also served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Farmington Valley Visiting Nurses Association. He earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1958, and a graduate degree from Boston University in 1962. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter Susan Whirty, residing in Avon with husband Steven and grandchildren Tyler and Olivia, and by a son Jeffrey Hyman, residing in Voorheesville, NY with Elisa Madnick and grandson Josiah. He is also survived by his sister Ruth Cronson of Lexington, MA. The funeral services will be held on Wednesday at Carmon Funeral Home and Family Center of Avon, at 1 p.m. at 301 Country Club Road in Avon, followed by a burial in Avon.
