Steven W. Scott Sr., 61, died at 7:55 a.m. Jan. 2, 2012, at Lima Memorial Health System.

He was born Jan. 20, 1950, in Kenton to Charles and Patricia Lease Scott. His father preceded him in death. His mother survives in Kenton. On March 8, 1969, he married Ruth E. Coburn, who died June 19, 2010.

Mr. Scott retired in 2007 from Ford Motor Co. Lima Engine Plan after 40 years. He was a 1968 graduate of Upper Scioto Valley High School. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, the Archaeological Society and Ford Retirees United Auto Workers Local 1219. He was an avid outdoorsman and collector of American Indian artifacts. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, reading and cooking. He loved his Jack Russel terrier, Minnie, but especially loved his granddaughter.

Survivors also include two sons, Steven Wayne Scott Jr. and Matthew Scott, both of Roundhead; a daughter, Jennifer Scott, of Lima; two brothers, David (Carol) Scott and Rick Scott, both of Kenton; a sister, Lisa Scott-Reiss, of Marysville; and a granddaughter, Madison Rose "Lula Belle" Garver.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Kerry "Turtle" Scott.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger. Pastor Robert Dye will officiate. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and until time of services Friday at the funeral home.
