Mrs. Susan M. (Thorpe) Roberts, 77, of 835 Reid Road, State Line, PA, died at 10:40 P.M., Saturday, August 18, 2012 at her home. She had been in failing health for three months and critically ill for the past two weeks. Born June 10, 1935 in Middletown, VA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas T. and Carrie Virginia (Dodson) Thorpe. Mrs. Roberts attended Middletown, VA schools. She and her first husband, Ronald Redman, were married in September of 1951. Mr. Redman died on February 26, 1989. She and her second husband, Jeremiah Neal Roberts, were married in 1977 in Hagerstown, MD. Mr. Roberts died on August 8, 2005. Mrs. Roberts worked for Hanover Shoes, Maryland Kitchen, and later as a delivery person for Medicine Shoppe, Corsi's Pizza and Stork Dy-dee. She retired as a nursing assistant for Williamsport Nursing Home. She enjoyed playing BINGO, painting ceramics, art, writing poetry and playing guitar, mandolin and banjo. She is survived by seven daughters: Amber C. McCarty, State Line, Tina Marie Fewell, Martinsburg, WV, Virginia Mae Grams, Kearneysville, WV, Penny Lynn Redman, Martinsburg, Connie Diane Kitts, Charlestown, WV, Thelma Lorraine Miller, Martinsburg, Lisa Dawn Watts, Hagerstown; seven sons: Bret Allen Redman, Keedysville, MD, Bart Owen Redman, Clear Spring, MD, Burt Aaron Redman, Hagerstown, Michael Eugene Redman, Kent Island, MD, Billy Lloyd Redman, Frederick, MD, John Marvin Redman, Martinsburg, Jeremiah Edward Roberts, Chambersburg, PA; thirty two grandchildren and forty eight great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Franklin R. Thorpe. A reception for family and friends will be held at her State Line home, Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 6:00 P.M. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
