Sylvia Grace (Clark) Bourdon, 91, of Suffield, wife for 69 years to her beloved husband Raymond, was called Home, Wednesday, (May 3, 2006). Raised in Middlebury, VT, daughter of the late John and Ruth (Comstock) Clark she was valedictorian of her senior class in high school and enjoyed tennis, ice-skating, and hiking, especially to Three Mile Bridge with her cousin Edna. She and Ray lived in Windsor for many years, moving to Marshfield, MA, and finally Suffield for the past 36 years. She was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader, Boy Scout and PTA Board member, as well as being active in the former Our Lady of The Assumption Catholic Church, Windsor and the Sacred Heart Church, Suffield. Together, Sylvia and Ray built a profitable business, Bourdon Associates in Suffield, where Ray was President and she was bookkeeper, secretary, receptionist, and personnel manager. While in Marshfield, she belonged to the Welcoming Club and her warmth and humor made newcomers feel at home immediately. She enjoyed playing cards with the seniors and contributing hand made afghans and tablecloths to the annual church bazaar. She was an accomplished pianist and enjoyed bowling and golf. She and Ray traveled extensively both in the U.S. and abroad. With her terrific memory she remembered all the sights and all the friends they had made through the years. Besides her husband Ray, she leaves two sons, Clarke and his wife Eleanor of Windsor, Peter and his wife Patricia of Rocky Hill, two daughters Joy Chambers and her husband Glenn of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Deborah Herath and her partner Paul Yocum of San Jose, CA; a cousin Edna Ritchie of Suffield, and Edna’s daughter Sue Perguidi of Agawam, MA; as well as 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and one great great grandson. Sylvia will be remembered for her love of family, life, and her many interests. Family and friends may gather Friday (May 5) 9:00 am at the Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, 443 East Street North, Suffield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Church, Suffield. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Suffield. Her family will receive friends Thursday from 5-8 PM at the Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home.
