Sylvia (McLaren) Brown, 70, of Windsor Locks and formerly of Bloomfield, beloved wife of the late Linford Brown, passed away suddenly on December 27, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital. She was born in London, England on January 29, 1938 to the late Thomas and Ethel (Pomfret) McLaren. She moved to the United States to pursue a career in modeling. She modeled for Ebony and Budweiser among others. Sylvia then began work as a visiting nurse most recently for Interim Health Care. She was physically active, a member of the Jewish Community Center in Bloomfield, and felt maintaining her fitness was important. She enjoyed sewing and was involved with Food Share. She was a Communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Bloomfield. She is survived by her sons, Darien M. Arnum of Windsor Locks; David Johnson of London, England, two step sons, Raddy Brown of East Hartford; Carlton Brown of Hartford; a stepdaughter, Susan Brown of Hartford. Her grandchildren, Antonia, Imari, Darien, Jr., Joshua, Jaelen, Jeremy, Odene, Leone, Dominic, and a step granddaughter, LaToya. She is also survived by two brothers and seven sisters as well as many other friends and relatives. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 10, 10:30 a.m., at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Wintonbury Ave., Bloomfield. Burial will follow in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery.
