Sister Tarcissia Buchele, OP, age 97, of Sinsinawa, WI, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2016, at St. Dominic Villa. To honor Sister Tarcissia's life, Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, October 3, 2016, at the Gathering Place Chapel, Sinsinawa, WI. To celebrate Sister Tarcissia's life, family and friends may visit after 5:15 p.m., on Sunday, October 2, 2016, at the Motherhouse, where a Wake and Remembering Service will take place at 6:30 p.m. Behr Funeral Home, Dubuque, IA, is handling arrangements.

Sister Tarcissia devoted 62 years to the education of elementary school children. She was a primary grade teacher for 48 years, serving in schools located in Wisconsin, South Dakota, Illinois, and Minnesota. Sister served as a reading specialist in Ottawa, Illinois, for 14 years.

Sister Tarcissia delighted many a child with her classroom presence but also by her artfully crafted Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls. They were featured at many church and school festivals as well as served as gifts. She enjoyed the children's squeals of delight as they hugged their very own doll. She was young at heart and added much joy to community life.

Sister Tarcissia, born Jan. 9, 1919, in Peoria, Ill., to Arthur and Grace (Buchele) Buchele, made her profession Aug. 5, 1937. She is survived by nieces, nephews and the Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters with whom she shared life for 79 years.
