Teresa Solis, 81 of Yorkville, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday August 23, 2020 at her home. She was born October 15, 1938 in Nueva Rosita, Coahuila, Mexico, the daughter of the late Martin and Soledad (Zamora) Solis. She was one of 13 children.

Teresa worked for many years in the DuPage County area in local nursing homes as a housekeeper. She enjoyed her job and it was one of her many passions. She retired from housekeeping at the age 70. Religion was very important to Teresa, she loved her many saints. She was an avid telenovela watcher and enjoyed watching them with her daughters at her side. She was a skilled shopper and loved finding the best bargains. She was a loving caregiver to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking for her family. There was always a fresh batch of tortillas and frijoles in her kitchen for her grandchildren to enjoy when visiting. She loved visits from her family. In her younger years Teresa enjoyed music and dancing with her friends. She was also known for her sense of humor and her contagious laugh. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her loving children, Ana (Adan) Arriaga, Marisa (Raul) Fernandez, Alma (Sean Hayden) Avalos and her sister Josefina (Alejandro) Serna. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Adam (Jackie) Arriaga, Abraham (Elia) Arriaga, Jose Arriaga, Herminia (Daniel) Morsch, Mariano Arriaga, Alex Avalos, Juan Avalos, Natalie Fernandez, Joshua Fernandez, Amir Hayden, Akeem Hayden, and great-grandchildren Sebastian Arriaga, Isabella Arriaga, Victoriana Arriaga, Ethan Richardson, Abraham Arriaga, Ellie Arriaga, Gavin Arriaga, Austin Morsch & Nathan Morsch.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother Javier Solis, sister, Maria de Jesus Perez, her grandson Jacob Raul Fernandez.
Visitation will be held Friday 3-8 p.m. August 28, 2020 at The Healy Chapel, 370 Division Dr., Sugar Grove, IL 60554. Funeral services will be held Saturday 10:30 a.m. August 29, 2020 also at The Healy Chapel, Sugar Grove. Interment will take place at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery.
