A Celebration of Life will be held at Wilcox Oaks Golf Club @ 4:00 PM on Friday June 23, in Red Bluff CA. Thelma Owens passed away peacefully with her family by her side Wednesday June 7, 2017. She was born in Boswell Oklahoma, and was very proud of her heritage. She graduated from Boswell High School and continued her education receiving a teaching degree in home economics from Sacramento Jr College. Thelma taught kindergarten until moving to Red Bluff, CA in 1955, where she worked for Minch Wholesale Meat Co. It was while working there as a secretary she learned to love and respect the cattle people of Red Bluff. Thelma had special connection and love for the ranching life while attending the Red Bluff Bull and Gelding Sale in 1968 met Jim Owens , according to her the best thing that ever happened to her. They were married the following year, June 17th 1969 In Reno Nevada. Thelma and Jim ran many cattle over the years, dividing their time between their Red Bluff, Ft Klamath home and Williams Ranch. She loved cooking for family gatherings, brandings and the cowboys, Thelma was known across the county for her great lunches. Thelma was an active member of CA Cattlewomen, she was awarded CowBelle of the Year in 1995, the same year her husband Jim received Cattlemen of the Year. She was a long standing member of Red Bluff Emblem Club, a member of Wilcox Oaks golf club and the Red Bluff Elks Lodge. She loved dancing, working in her yard, cooking, her grandchildren and family. She enjoyed traveling and socializing with her old friends and the Green Barn. Thelma is preceded in death by her husband Jim Owens, son Rob Wallace, son-in law Rich Moore, daughter in law Laurie Owens, grandson JR Owens, granddaughter Debbie Moore, and sisters Othella and Hazel Survivors: Son Pete Owens (Patrice), Daughter Shelia Moore and Daughter Paula Farrell (David) Grandchildren: Jim Moore, Monica Owens, Jill Delfs (David), Lauren Owens (Stacy), Kelly Fredricks (Mike), Mark Owens ( Kim), Shannen Fraley (Royce), Brenton Farrell (Courtney) Great Grandchildren: Jessica, Brittany & Casey Moore, Spencer and Randi Delfs, Laura, Troy and Trevor Owens, Dustin & Caitlin Owens, Joseph & Alana Fredricks, Isabella & Aidon Fraley, Great Great Grandchildren: Kelly Anne Moore Many Grand Nieces and Nephews.
