homas Albert "Tom" Yost, 74, of Grindstone, Pa., died September 9, 2016, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, in Morgantown, W. Va. Born April 26, 1942, in Boyertown, the son of Arthur B. Yost and Meta (Sands) Yost.

Survived by his wife, Linda (Fetty) Yost; a brother, Alex A. (Ruth) Yost, of Boyertown; and his four children: Cynthia Yost (William Narod), Tamela Luke (Matthew Luke), Cheria Yost (Adam Thomas), and Andrew Yost (Daniela Yost). Also survived by 11 grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents and his twin sister, Martha (Yost) Istenes.

Tom was a longtime resident of Pennsylvania and Colorado. He joined the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) at age 12 and dedicated his life to the organization; in 1955 he received the Spaatz Award, CAP's highest honor. Tom graduated from Boyertown High School in 1960 and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Air Force until 1963. Tom worked as telecommunications specialist for 30 years. He was a passionate and well-read student of American history. He collected and restored military vehicles. Tom loved John Wayne westerns and war films. His children carry on his legacy, maintaining his interest in history, and Tom was particularly proud of his son, Andrew, who served honorably as a U.S. Air Force Pararescueman.
