Arthur Thomas Bierley, 89 of Poplar Grove passed away Monday, November 16, 2015 at Maysville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born March 20, 1926 in Fleming County to the late William L. and Helen Breeze Bierley. He was a lifelong farmer and member of the Tollesboro Christian Church. Mr. Bierley served as elder for many years at the Mt. Carmel Christian Church. He volunteered and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Tom enjoyed attending basketball games, playing Rook and Eucher, square dancing and loafing at the old local grocery stores, tire shops and the Dairy Queen.
Survivors include two daughters; Cheryl (Kenny) Souder of Poplar Grove and Rita (Randy) Fite of Tollesboro, a son Kelly (Lareina) Bierley of Mt. Carmel; 5 grandchildren Annette (Tom) Rizzo, Amy Bolar, Alivia, Reagan and Philip Bierley. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years Mabel Brown Bierley and his sister Francis Brewer of Cincinnati.
Services for Mr. Bierley will be Thursday, November 19, 2015, 1PM at Barbour and Son Funeral Home with Bro. Sammy Harris and Bro. Russell Johnson officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Kenny Souder, Tom Rizzo, Philip Bierley, Philip Cropper, Russell Johnson, Randy Fite and Marty Vance. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Billy Campbell, Annette Rizzo, Reagan Bierley, Amy Bolar and Alivia Bierley. Visitation will be 11AM until the hour of service.
