Thomas David Harrington, age 82, of Ina, IL, formerly of Granite City, IL, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at his home. Tom was born on June 22, 1931 in Hartford, IL, a son to the late Clyde and Gladys (Bain) Harrington. On September 20, 1952, Tom married Juanita Martinez, the love of his life in Centreville, IL. He had retired from Granite City Steel as a steelworker and craneman after thirty-five years of dedicated service; he was also a member of United Steel Workers of America. Tom was an avid fisherman, gardener and Cardinal baseball fan. Tom loved life, he loved to laugh, but most of all he loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by two sisters, Annabelle Bowers and Margie Potter; and one brother, James Harrington. He is survived by his loving wife, Juanita Harrington of Ina, IL; dear children, David and Debbie (Metzmaker) Harrington of Alton, IL, Katherine Seaman of Jacksonville, AR, Thomas and Diane (James) Harrington of Granite City, IL, Patricia and Thomas Williamson of Odessa, TX and Timothy and Dianne (Wideman) Harrington of Granite City, IL; one brother, Patrick Harrington of East Alton, IL; loving grandfather of twelve grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-granddaughter on the way in September; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, IL. In celebration of Tom's life, funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, IL, with Dr. Rev. Glen Greenwood officiating. Interment will be in Wanda Cemetery, South Roxana, IL. Memorial donations may be given to American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the funeral chapel. www.irwinchapel.com
