Thomas Wesley "Tommy" Ferguson, age 78, of Liberty passed away on November 9, 2017 at The Randolph Hospice House after an extended illness. He was born on October 30, 1939 in Liberty, NC to Lester Allen and Annie Routh Ferguson. He graduated from Liberty High School in 1958.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Isabelle Duncan Ferguson; daughter, Dawn Ferguson Roth and her husband, Jim of Concord. Also surviving are sisters, Daphne Snider and husband Gray, Mary Parks and Ann Ferguson; brothers, Alfred Ferguson and wife Eunice, Joe Ferguson, Garland Ferguson and wife Jeannie, and Richard Ferguson and wife Gloria; sisters-in-law, Doris Ferguson and Ruth Ferguson; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his sister, Evelyn Williams and brothers, Douglas Ferguson, Billy Ferguson, Hobart Ferguson, and Ray Ferguson.

Tommy worked for JP Stevens in Greensboro for 37 years and retired from Flynt Fabrics in Graham in 2001. He was a lifelong Carolina fan and enjoyed attending football and basketball games there for over three decades. When he could no longer attend the games, he enjoyed listening to them on his radio and watching them on television. Until his health declined, he enjoyed golf, reading, gardening, working in his yard and delivering vegetables and flowers from his garden to friends and neighbors. Tommy was very involved with his church, First United Methodist Church of Liberty. He had such an outgoing personality and never met a stranger. Tommy was blessed to have many special children and young adults in his life. He was a surrogate grandfather to many and was loved by all.

The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6-8 pm at Loflin Funeral Home of Liberty. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 2 pm at First United Methodist Church of Liberty.

The family would like to express their gratitude to all of the caregivers who lovingly cared for Tommy during his final years, the staff of Staywell Senior Care and the wonderful nurses at Hospice of Randolph County.
