Tommy worked for JP Stevens in Greensboro for 37 years and retired from Flynt Fabrics in Graham in 2001. He was a lifelong Carolina fan and enjoyed attending football and basketball games there for over three decades. When he could no longer attend the games, he enjoyed listening to them on his radio and watching them on television. Until his health declined, he enjoyed golf, reading, gardening, working in his yard and delivering vegetables and flowers from his garden to friends and neighbors. Tommy was very involved with his church, First United Methodist Church of Liberty. He had such an outgoing personality and never met a stranger. Tommy was blessed to have many special children and young adults in his life. He was a surrogate grandfather to many and was loved by all.

The family would like to express their gratitude to all of the caregivers who lovingly cared for Tommy during his final years, the staff of Staywell Senior Care and the wonderful nurses at Hospice of Randolph County.
