Our beloved Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother and Uncle Thomas Xavier O'Callaghan passed away in the early morning hours on Friday September, 29th 2017. He was a wonderful man.

He was born on March 2nd, 1927 in Somerville, Massachusetts. He was the third of five boys born to William Augustin O'Callaghan and Emily Marie Walsh O'Callaghan - William T., Francis, Thomas Joseph and Edward. They grew up with a very large and very close Irish Catholic family. When they were not in school they were helping with the family business - Thomas Walsh and Son's and would spend their summers at the family cottage in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire.

He was quite the sports enthusiast. Especially Football. It was his favorite sport. He enjoyed playing as a youth and was often competing against older boys. He even played semi-professional for the Somerville Chiefs. He enjoyed professional football most of all. He was a diehard New England Patriots fan but he would watch college football games if Navy, Notre Dame or LSU were playing.

He graduated High School in 1945 and enlisted in the United States Navy as a Sea Bee. He was stationed in the South Pacific during most of his tour. When he was discharged he returned to Somerville to help with the family business and in 1947 he met Winifred Boland from Cambridge, Massachusetts. They were married on November 11th, 1950 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Cambridge. They lived in Somerville and then Cambridge and started a family. They had six children together - Jeanne, Patricia, Michaela, Ellen, Colleen and Sean. In 1959 they moved to Reading, Massachusetts. In 1972 they family moved to Portland, Oregon.

Thomas went by many names. Tom, Tommy, Mr. Wonderful, but his favorite was Papa. It was the name he liked being called the most. He and Winnie had thirteen grandchildren - Emily, Leah, Jordan, Josiah, Ruth, Anna, Meredith, Roman, Tyler, Thomas, Maeve, Seamus and Brendan. They loved all of their grandchildren so very much.

Thomas was proceeded in death by his parents William and Emily, his brother William and his wife Betty, his brother Francis and his wife Helen, his wife Winifred and their daughter Patricia and grandchildren Leah and Roman.
