Timothy "Tim" Elwood Huffman, 57, of Morganton, passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at his residence.
Tim was born in Burke County on September 23, 1957 to the late Sid & Alma Marie Hartman Huffman. He was a classic car enthusiast. Tim devoted many hours repairing and restoring various types of vehicles. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved the mountains. He leaves behind many fond memories of the times he spent fishing and traveling to his home in West Virginia. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
In addition to his parents, Tim was preceded in death by four brothers, Ray Brown, Bill Hoyle, Alfred Huffman, and Harvey Huffman; two sisters, Shirley Powell and Linda Pope; and a step son, Rodney Ferrell.
Survivors include his fiancé, Marie Farrell of the home; a son, Tommy Hodges & wife Susan of Morganton; three daughters, Jamie Farnham & husband Marshall of Morganton, Jessie Huffman of Morganton, and Cathy Moody & husband Daniel of Icard; a step son, Jay Ferrell & wife Nancy of Morganton; a step daughter, Tammy Ferrell & husband Mike of West Virginia; two brothers, Basil Huffman & wife Mary Lou of Hickory and Randy Huffman of Tennessee; three sisters, Nancy Huffman of Valdese, Sue Farr of Morganton, and Martha Carswell & husband Ronnie of Connelly Springs; a special niece, Sherry Huffman Pruett & husband James of Casar; ten grandchildren; and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 14, 2015 at the Memorial Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home in Morganton with Pastor Dennis Pitts officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 13, 2015 at the funeral home.
