Timothy James Dart of Nacogdoches passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at Nacogdoches Medical Center at the age of 71 years, 3 months, and 26 days.

He was born March 22, 1946, in Sherman, Texas, to parents Kenneth Landon and Mildred Louise (Klem) Dart.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2017, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel with Bro. Ed Gross officiating.

Mr. Dart was a graduate of Abilene High School in 1964. After high school he briefly attended Abilene Christian College before serving his country proudly in the United States Navy. He fought in the Vietnam War and was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.

Following his military service, Tim graduated from Pan Am University with his Bachelor's degree. He briefly taught 2nd grade in South Texas, where he was also a volunteer firefighter. He then went on to his long time career as a contract specialist for the United States Government.

Tim enjoyed swimming, nature, hard work, and travel. He loved to support his family and had a passion for telling stories. He was sensitive, sincere, a good listener, gave good advice, and knew how to make people feel comfortable. If you knew Tim, you knew he was there for you. He loved kids, and he would often play word games or board games. His travels took him throughout the United States, Central America, and Europe.

He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and the Texas Rifle Association. He was also proud to call himself a member of Mensa.

Mr. Dart was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Robert Dart.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Dart; brothers, Peter Dart and wife Susan, John Dart, and Andrew Dart and wife Debbie; sisters, Martha Lemon and husband Don and Sarah Stone and husband Gary; son, Robert Dart and wife Deb; grandson, Paul Dart; granddaughter, Jamie Dart; step-son; Ryan Thompson and wife Kristen; step-daughters, Michelle Gross and husband Ed, Shannon O'Brien and husband Tim, and Cara Murden and partner Billy; 15 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to in Mr. Dart's name to The National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, New York 10016.
