Tippie Kenneth Burroughs

GOODLETTSVILLE -age 89, of Goodlettsville, TN, passed away on November 21, 2017 at The Windlands East independent living facility in Madison, TN. Tippie was born in Cleveland, OH, on February 14, 1928 to John and Beatrice Burroughs. He married Nancy (Chance) Burroughs on September 15, 1949 in Madison. Tippie worked as an insurance district manager, and director of sales training, for Interstate Life Insurance Company (later Southern Life Insurance Company and American General) until his retirement at age 62. He was a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and a Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI).

Tippie is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy, who passed away in 2016. He was her caregiver in the last two years of her life. They were devoted to each other. Their home in Goodlettsville was renowned for its landscaping, winning several community awards bestowed on them by the Goodlettsville Gazette.

Tippie is survived by his son, Michael (Janice) Burroughs, Sr., of St. Louis, Missouri; his daughter, Lori (Dick) Moore of Gallatin, Tennessee; and his grandchildren, Michael (Krista) Burroughs, Jr., of San Antonio, Texas; John (Shala) Burroughs of Denver, Colorado; and Shannon Watson of Nashville, Tennessee. He is also survived by his great grandchildren: Lauren Watson (Gallatin), Briana Goods (Nashville), Nicholas Burroughs (San Antonio), Madeleine Burroughs (San Antonio), and Bryce Burroughs (Denver)

Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, in Goodlettsville, Tennessee. Funeral service will follow visitation beginning at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 28th. Reverend Larry Gilmore will be officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Michael Burroughs, Sr., Michael Burroughs, Jr., John Burroughs, Chad Burroughs, Carter Howard and Dick Moore.
