Tony (Groovy) Louviere, 61, of Woodlawn, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2015 at his home.
He was born November 10, 1953 in Jennings, LA to Irvin and Joyce (Thibodeaux) Louviere. He was preceded in death by his father.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Georgia Kay Louviere of Woodlawn, his mother Joyce Thibodeaux Louviere of Ardoin Cove, four daughters, Sarah Louviere of Atlanta, GA, Lauren Greene of Oakdale, LA, Ariel Greene of Vinton, LA and Amelia Greene of Lake Charles, LA, one brother, Rev. Richard Louviere and wife Terri of Lake Charles, three grandchildren, Nathan Dart, Gavin LeJeune and Daxson LaBiche and three nieces, Lauren Monroe and her husband Scott, Allison Louviere and Amy Louviere.
Tony was a graduate of Welsh High School and received his degree in Fire Science from L.S.U.E. He was of the Catholic Faith. Tony worked for the State Fire Marshall's Office and at Coushatta Casino. He also worked as an Offshore Drilling Inspector for the U.S. Department of the Interior and the Bureau of Safety and U.S. Environmental Enforcement. He also served as the Fire Chief for the Woodlawn Volunteer Fire Department for over 25 years.
He was an active member of the NRA and worked with fund raising efforts for Friends of the NRA. He loved boating and water skiing. He was a loving husband; father, brother, son and a good friend to many who knew him. He dearly loved spending time and taking care of his family, friends and his community.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 from 4 to 9 pm at Hixson Funeral Home in Welsh with a Rosary service at 6 pm. Visitation will resume on Thursday, September 10, 2015 from 8 am until time of service. A Funeral service will be 11:00 am Thursday, September 10, 2015 at the funeral home. The Rev. Richard Louviere will officiate. Cremation will follow the service. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at
