Services for Travis Wynne, 78, of Lufkin, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 8, 2016 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Gilbert Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Wynne was born February 3, 1938 in Emerson, Arkansas, the son of the late Zada (Sewell) and Archie Dee Wynne. He passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. Wynne was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He graduated from Emerson High School and then did air conditioning and sheet metal work. He married Vallie Benefield on July 23, 1960 and they moved to Lufkin in 1965. He worked as a fireman at Lufkin Fire Department. He retired in June, 1988 with more than 30 years of service with the Fire Department. He worked in construction at Wynne Construction Company until his 70th birthday. He was also an avid hunter.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Vallie Wynne of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Annette and Tony Adkins, Sr. of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Glenda Wynne and Kennith and Darla Wynne, all of Lufkin; grandchildren, Tony Adkins, Jr., Timothy Adkins, Kellie Meza and husband Rickey, Colton Wynne and fiancée Tori Jones, and Kyle Wynne; sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Herman Watson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Wynne was preceded in death by his daughter, Beverly Wynne; and granddaughter, Mary Grace Wynne.
Pallbearers will be Tony Adkins, Jr., Timothy Adkins, Rickey Meza, Colton Wynne, Kyle Wynne, and Phillip Broadway.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
