Mrs. Tressie Reed Marcantel, 70 of Valdese received her Heavenly reward on Thursday March 8, 2012 at Burke Hospice and Palliative Care Center, Valdese, after a brief illness.
Mrs. Marcantel was born January 9, 1942 in Lake Charles, LA., a daughter of the late Wiley and Nolen Soileau Reed. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Marcantel, son, Mark Marcantel and a brother Bradley Reed.
Tressie was an active and faithful member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, Valdese, serving as church clerk, secretary of her Sunday School class and a member of the WMU. She was a loving wife, a wonderful mother and grandmother, who loved to read and crochet.
Surviving are three sons, Mike Marcantel and wife, Lynn of Valdese, Paul Franklin and wife Chanel of Lexington, Brian Franklin and wife Monique of the US Air Force, Navarre, Fla., two daughters, Mandy Rhoney and husband Rickey of Drexel and Angie Hamm and husband David of Valdese and a sister Bonnie Guidry of Lake Charles, La. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Tressie Reed Marcantel will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday March 11, 2012 at Cornerstone Baptist Church, Valdese, with Rev. Ande Myers officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Valdese.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 3:00 P.M. Sunday at Cornerstone Baptist Church, Valdese.
