Ulmer Z. Sturgeon, Sr., 94, of Taft, died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017.



Mr. Sturgeon was born in Torreon, Coahuila, MX, on July 4, 1922 to William and Maria (Zermeño) Sturgeon. He was a lifelong resident of Taft where he was a commercial fisherman for most of his life.



He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Maria Sturgeon, his sister, Adela Morales, and his brothers, Guillermo Sturgeon, René Sturgeon, and Samuel Sturgeon.



Survivors include his wife, Juliana Sturgeon, of Taft; sons, Ulmer (Tila) Sturgeon, Jr., Robert H. (Rosa) Sturgeon, Bill Sturgeon, all of Taft, and Rudy (Tessie) Sturgeon, of Portland; daughter, Nicky (Carlos) Guerrero, of Taft; 16 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.



The family would like to express a Special Thanks to Ms. Audina David for her special care and support of our dad.



Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Colonial Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.



Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Taft at 10:00 a.m. with Interment to follow at The Palms Memorial Gardens.



Pallbearers will be Russell Sturgeon, Ulmer Sturgeon lll, David Sturgeon, Mike Sturgeon, Daryl Sturgeon and Gabriel Guerrero.
