Verda Mae (Lambert) Patten, 75 of Ossian and formerly of Zanesville passed away at 7:54 a.m. on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. She was a 1954 graduate of Lancaster High School in Huntington County. She had worked as a meat processor for 32 years at Lengrich Meats in Zanesville, retiring in 2002. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed all things outdoors.

She was born on March 7, 1936 in Roanoke, Indiana, a daughter of A. Ira and Delsie (Smith) Lambert.

She was united in marriage to Robert E. Patten on September 4, 1953 in LaFontaine, Indiana. He preceded her in death on October 24, 1985.

Survivors include a daughter: Debra Niemi of Roanoke; two sons: Michael Patten of Ossian; James (Carla) Patten of Ossian; a sister: Treva (John) Taylor of Markle; four grandchildren: Tyson (Leslie) Freiburger, Allyson (Scott) Holzinger, Noah Patten and Jonah Patten and three great grandchildren: Mayson Holzinger, Olivia Holzinger, Addelyn Freiburger and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by eleven brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 16, 2011 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel, 415 N. Lee Street, Markle, Indiana.

Services will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel with Rev. Larry Taylor officiating.

Interment will be at the Markle Cemetery.
