Vernon Randall “Randy” Burgin, 69, of Arthur City, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2015, at his home.

Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 26th at the Pavilion of Forest Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Randy, the son of J. S. & Maxine Slagle Burgin, was born Oct. 16, 1945, in Sulphur Springs.

He served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War, being stationed in Germany where he worked on the Nike Missile.

His career with American National Insurance Company here in Paris spanned a number of years. He received several sales awards during that time. Later he worked for Prudential Insurance Company.

Randy loved his daughters and grandchildren. He loved his family and friends. He never met a stranger and was always up for a visit. He loved to tell stories about the “good ole days”, growing up in Chicota and then the times in Germany, where he was stationed during the Vietnam War. Randy was an avid organic gardener and loved to tell you how to get healthy. He was very artistic and at one time in his life, he painted many beautiful landscapes.

He was preceded in death by his father, J. S. Burgin.

Survivors include two daughters, Tracy Johnson & husband Chris of Paris and Chandra Watson & husband Leslie of Blossom, his mother, Maxine Burgin of Arthur City, grandchildren, Blake Smith, Kimberlee Peel, Brian Watson & wife Nicole, Kealey Watson, Sydni Watson, and Corbin Watson, great grandchildren, Jordyn Peel, Jackson Peel, Brooklyn Bailey, Brody Watson and Blakely Watson, one brother, Steve Burgin & wife Ann of Paris, two sisters, Anita Ratliff of Paris and Vicky Burleson & husband Michael of Ragtown along with several nieces & nephews and a host of friends.
