VICKIE C. HIGNITE WIGLESWORTH, age 65, of Brooksville, OH, formerly of Cynthiana, passed away Friday, June 1, 2018 following a long battle with dementia and lung cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, James & Della Hignite, by her husband, Richard Slade and by a special cousin, Elizabeth Shufflebarger. Vickie's family moved to Cynthiana in 1953. She graduated from Harrison County High School in 1970, then she attended Eastern Kentucky Univ. for 3+ years. She then returned to Cynthiana and worked various positions at 3M for over 22 years. She enjoyed being a Brownie Scout leader, and was a member of the Cynthiana Baptist Church. She loved her Springer Spaniel dogs and collecting antiques, especially crocks. Vickie was an excellent swimmer, and enjoyed pools, lakes and beaches. Vickie loved music, especially the Eagles, Motown and Frankie Valli. She really enjoyed the recent concerts of Diana Ross, the Doobie Brothers and the Jersey Boys. Years ago, legendary UK Basketball coach Joe B. Hall hired Vickie to take his mother, Ruth Hall, on errands once she no longer could drive. Vickie said she was “Driving Miss Ruth”. Vickie once asked Mrs. Hall what the “B” stood for in Joe B. Hall - Mrs. Hall said, “Basketball”. Always an avid UK basketball fan, she loved the Big Blue! Vickie is survived by her husband, Nathan Wiglesworth and his daughters, Nikki (Jarrod) Wiglesworth & Becky (Allen) Martin; brother, Harold (Doris) Hignite; sister, Colleen Kenworthy; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild; nephews, Grant (Jennifer) Kenworthy, Bart (Paola) Kenworthy, Harold David (Lauren) Hignite; nieces, Morgan Marie (Chris) Linville, Britt (Shane) Gasser, Natalie (Matt) Lewis, and numerous other relatives and friends. Think of Vickie with a smile when you use a Post-It, look at puppies, watch UK Basketball, play darts or even her favorite card game, ROOK - which she almost always won. She loved Gerbera Daisies, but in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society or do an act of kindness to a friend, neighbor or even a stranger. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Ware Funeral Home by Dr. Larry Bishop. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society or do an act of kindness to a friend, neighbor or even a stranger.
