Virgil G. Heiman, Sr. 106, a lifelong resident of the Beaumont and Fannett areas, passed away on Sunday September 24, 2017 in Beaumont. He was born in Fannett, Texas December 7, 1910. His parents were Sadie Burrell and John Clyde Heiman who preceded him in death. He married Kathryn Craigen and they had four sons and were married for seventy-three years before her death. He also was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. Being from a farming and ranching background he has always loved horses. After he got out of the farming business he moved to Beaumont and worked for Jack's Hardware for many years before going to work at the Phelan Co., where he worked until he retired at age 72. After being home two months he had to find a job to stay busy. He went to work at Dairy Queen as a part time equipment repairman. He worked there for ten years before finally retiring. He drove until he was 98 and at 99 he moved to assisted living and a year later moved to Summer Place Nursing and Rehab. He was a member of Woodland Baptist Church in Beaumont.
Surviving him are his four sons; Craig Heiman and wife Carmella of Beaumont, Clyde Heiman and wife Carlene of Katy, Virgil Heiman, Jr. of Richland Washington, and Dwight Heiman and wife Pam of Kerrville. Mr. Heiman is also survived by twelve grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday September 28, 2017 from 5:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. A Celebration of Virgil's life funeral service will be held on Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont.
