Virginia Fulcher Goodnight of Temple, formally of Little River-Academy, and Holland, passed away after a lengthy illness on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at her home in Temple.

Graveside services will be conducted at the Holland City Cemetery on Monday, January 16, 2017 at 10:00 am with the Rev. Lee Ann Turner and the Reverends Robert and Patricia Warden officiating.

Survivors include one daughter, Sheryl Goodnight of Temple, and several nephews and nieces. Mrs. Goodnight was preceded in death by her late husband, Dr. Clyde D. Goodnight of Little River-Academy in 2002. She was a member of the Little River United Methodist Church and a long time board member of the Temple Symphony Orchestra. She was married to her beloved husband for forty-three years.

Virginia Goodnight was born in Naples, Texas, moved to Temple in 1945 where she was employed by the Soil Conservation Service as a secretary. Later she worked at the Veteran's Administration Hospital as a medical transcriptionist and secretary for the physicians, and also in the area of recreation. She graduated from East Texas State Teacher's College, now Texas A&M Commerce. Virginia Goodnight was involved in many cultural and civic organizations throughout her life. She was a kind loving Mother, and enjoyed spending time watching her daughter, Sheryl grow up and establish a career in music. Mrs Goodnight was a wonderful cook and gained much pleasure from entertaining many friends and family in her home.
