Virginia Ruth McKenzie Harris, 77, of Felsenthal, AR passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2017, surrounded by her family and friends who adored her. She was the loving wife of 47 years to Joe R. Harris.

Virginia was born on January 12, 1940, John C. "Pete" and Ora McKenzie in Damascus, AR. She married Joe R. Harris on December 29, 1970 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Many of Joe's career moves with the railroad took them both to McGehee, AR, Kingsville, TX, back to McGehee, then to East End, AR, and finally to Felsenthal with Joe's retirement from the railroad. Along the way, Virginia worked as an assistant manager in several grocery stores, where she was a whiz at 10-key. She was a hard worker and always happy to help anyone. She loved her community and served for many years as a councilwoman in Felsenthal. Virginia was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Huttig, AR, and taught Sunday School. She was always at the center of every activity there. Her friends and family loved her, even when she was hard to beat at cards. We will miss her quick sense of humor, her easy laugh, her fiery spirit, her strength, and her fierce, sacrificial love.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, W.T. McKenzie, Thayerdee McKenzie, and Bobby McKenzie.

She was survived by her husband, Joe R. Harris; her brother, Harvey McKenzie (Ann); her sister, Ketha Carter; her sons, Doug Harris (Dawn), Joe Harris, Jr. (Leah), Steve Harris (Stacy); her daughter, Vicki Womble; her grandchildren, Ian, Leah, Connor, Savanna, Cole, Rachel, Heather, Allisha, and Arielle; her nieces and nephews, Alice, Cynthia, Michelle, Debbie, Becky, Frankie, Gary, Danny, Shawn, April, John Paul, Joey, Sam and Keith; and her many great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 25th at 1:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 302 4th St., Huttig, AR 71742. Cremation services were entrusted to Young's Funeral Directors.
