Virginia Anne (Phoebe) Hodges Leach, 91, passed away quietly Thursday January 19, 2017 at her home. She was born in Henry County, Virginia January 4, 1926 to the late George Dewey Hodges and Virginia Thomasson Hodges.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Armead Leach in 1974.

Mrs. Leach is survived by one son, Clayton Armead Leach and wife Elizabeth of Bassett, Virginia, daughters Teresa Leach Jackson and husband Jim of Winston-Salem, NC and Martha Susan Leach of the home; two grandsons, James William Jackson (Amanda) of Winston-Salem, NC and Daniel Lee Jackson (Kaitlyn) of Athens, GA and one granddaughter, Caroline Elizabeth Leach of Bassett, VA. Also surviving are two sisters, Dorothy Cardwell and Nancy Stowe, five brothers, Kenneth Hodges, Earl Hodges, Glenwood Hodges, Howard Hodges, and Jack Hodges; and a sister-in-law Myrtle Leach Crews.

She spent most of her life in Henry and Franklin counties and retired from E.I. DuPont Martinsville plant with 42 years of service. She later worked at McCollum-Ferrell Shoe Store for many years until the closing of the store.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday January 23, 2017 at
McKee-Stone chapel and will be officiated by Reverend Andrew Shanks. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Roselawn Burial Park.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff of Mountain Valley Hospice for the care and support they have provided for the past months.
