Virginia Rickert Saway, 94, died Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Funeral services will be held on Monday, 11 AM, May 23 at the Episcopal Church of the Creator in Clinton with internment in Lakewood Memorial Park, Jackson, MS. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Sunday at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton. Pallbearers will be Robert Howe, David Howe, Kyle Howe, Lee Pulliam and Joe Little.
Mrs. Saway, a member of The Episcopal Church of the Creator in Clinton, was born in Quincy, IL. She worked for the Army Map Corps as a cartographer during WWII and later for Rand McNally in Chicago. Mrs. Saway was a retired Administrative Professional for the Hinds County Circuit Clerk's Office. After retirement, she worked as Assistant Librarian at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
A graduate of Gem City Business College in Quincy, IL, Mrs. Saway was an athlete proficient in many sports including rowing, golfing, bowling, and water aerobics, a member of the Metro Milers Walking Club and avid reader. Her love of life and positive attitude will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Mrs. Saway was the widow of Woodrow W. Saway and the daughter of the late Arthur and Hilda Rickert and was proceeded in death by her sister Mary Sparrow and brother Richard Rickert. Survivors include daughter Joy Howe ( Bruce) of Centennial, CO; grandchildren Robert
Howe (Julie) of Sandy, UT; and David Howe (Patty) of Meridian, ID; great grandchildren Kelsey and Kyle Howe; sister-in-law Rosemary Saway of Clinton; brother-in-law Peter Saway ( Bessie) Brandon and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all the caregivers that provided care for Mrs.Saway and would especially like to thank Sta-Home Health for their professional and loving care.
