Wallace Delano "Doug" Stinson passed on to his heavenly home, Monday, October 23, 2017.
Born September 1, 1941 in Amherst County, he was the son of the late Rolfe Adams Stinson and Edna Cash Stinson and was also preceded in death by a sister, Naomi Stinson Rhoades. He was a member of Union Christian Church and previous member of Oakdale Baptist Church.
Doug established Doug's Auto Repair in 1981, where he was President and owner. He was also President and a partner of KRS Suzuki, Inc. for 10 years. Doug operated the Gulf Station in Madison Heights, where he also operated a motorcycle shop and was previously employed by Williams Electric Company. Prior to that, he owned his own construction company and was at one time, employed by T.M. Sweeney Construction Co. He was also a member of the Amherst County Sheriff's Auxiliary for 10 years.
Doug is survived by his wife, Patricia Burge Stinson of Madison Heights; a son, Dean Edward Stinson and his wife Betty; three granddaughters, Melissa Stinson Mull and husband Billy, Deana Joy Stinson, and Grace Ellen Stinson and three great granddaughters, Hannah Marie Mull, Marlee Claire Mull, and Marrion Louise Mull, all of Madison Heights. He is also survived by a brother, Wyatt A. Stinson and wife Norma Jean.
Doug had a love for family, friends, motorcycles, and cars. He could design and build anything he wanted and was always helping people with his talents.
Doug will be truly missed by his family, friends, customers and community.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Jim Freeman officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at the funeral home and other times at the home of Dean Stinson.
