Walter Julius Wooten, Sr., 97, of Hanahan, SC, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, January 4, 2022. His private graveside service will be held in the Carolina Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel.
Walter was born May 30, 1924 in Moncks Corner, SC, son of the late Aubrey Wooten and the late Nettie Christine Taylor Hudson. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and a retired Supervisor with the State Ports Authority.
He is survived by two sons, Keith D. Wooten (Dianne) of Hanahan, SC, Richard L. Wooten (Pam) of Summerville, SC; daughter, Catherine Heasley (Jerry) of North Charleston, SC; 12 grandchildren, Shane Heasley (Kelli), Lynn Heasley (Don), Richard L. Wooten, Jr. (Jennifer), Tamara Larson (Robert), Tommy Wooten (Tina), Megan Wooten (Christopher), Cheri Wooten, Walter Wooten, III, Erin Hudson, Michael Wooten (Jennifer), Kenneth Wooten, Samantha Wooten; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and his daughter-in-law, Dr. Sally Wooten of Mayslick, KY.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Cora Lee Chavis Wooten; and sons, Walter Wooten, Jr. and Eugene Wooten.
