Walter L. Plumlee, age 91, passed away on July 30, 2017 in Garland, Texas. He was born on March 14, 1926 in Manhattan, Montana to Harvey and Elizabeth Plumlee. Walter was raised in Bozeman, Montana and graduated from Gallatin County High School in 1944.



Walter served as a Corporal in World War II for two years in the United States Army and also served in the Montana and Texas National Guards for many years.



He married Dorothy June Westfall in 1947 and the couple had two children. He was a Laboratory Supervisor, for the Abilene District of the Texas Highway Department, where he worked for more than forty years. He was often referred to as a “Geologist” even though he was not degreed as such.



In his spare time, Walter enjoyed music of all kinds, photography, woodworking, silversmithing, and lapidary among others.



His family and friends will always remember him as an honest, kind, and hardworking man.



He is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy who passed in 1990, and his second wife Jacqueline who passed in 2015.



Walter is survived by his daughter Candace L. Plumlee; his son Michael H. Plumlee and wife Vivian L. Plumlee; grandsons Christopher M. Plumlee and wife Renee and Brian A. Plumlee and wife Christi; great-grandsons Jacob and Nicholas; great-granddaughters Savannah and Madison; and his sisters Laura Coffman and Lona Albright.
