Wanda Day Moritz, 89, passed away on August 20, 2017 in Houston, Texas. She was born November 6, 1927 in Evergreen, Texas.

After graduating from Coldspring High School in 1945, she moved to Houston, where she was employed by Humble Oil for over 10 years before meeting her husband, Kent.

A long-time member of Willow Meadows Baptist Church and Willow Meadows Garden Club, Wanda also enjoyed spending time with family, reading, gardening, attending outings and theater shows with her AARP and church groups, watching the Houston Astros and Texans games, and traveling. Some of her trips included Connecticut to watch her son play minor league baseball, Mexico, The Bahamas, Canada, Hawaii, Italy, and France.

A resident at Seven Acres Senior Care Facility and The Medallion Assisted Living Residence for the past 3 years she will be remembered most for the colorful hats she wore.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 52 years, Kent Manning Moritz, whom she dearly loved, her parents Jimmie Lee Day and Allene Lilley Day, brothers Max Day and Dalton Day, sister Jimmie Lee Day Rega, and niece Denise Day.

She is survived by her children, daughters Kenda and Bentley Ann Moritz, sons Paul Manning Moritz and Christopher Brian Moritz and his wife Pamela Joy, granddaughters Alexa Joy and Brianna Faith, all of Houston; her sister Rita Day Higdon of Cleveland, Texas; sisters-in-law Frances Sessums Bray of Illinois, Dora Willis Day of Cleveland, and Sara Ford Day of Mississippi; and many other relatives and loving friends.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, September 22, 2017 at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 4525 Bissonnet St.

The funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home.

The Interment will be 10:30 AM, Monday, September 25, 2017 at Magnolia Cemetery, 811 Lilley Yeager Loop, Cleveland, TX, 77328.

In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to Willow Meadows Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.
