Wanda Jean Dean Johnson was born on September 25, 1934 in Nacogdoches, Texas to Cecil and Ada (Lorraine) Dean. She went home to be with the Lord on September 21, 2017 in Kingwood, Texas.

Graduating from Nacogdoches High School at 16 years of age, Wanda went on to receive her bachelor's and master's degrees from Stephen F. Austin State University. Her heart's calling was the education of young children and teaching them to read. Above all, Wanda's life was one of caring, giving, and providing unconditional love to all that she knew.

Wanda remained active her chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma where she had been a founding member. She was also an active member of Kingwood First Baptist Church, she enjoyed the special fellowship in the Kelly Class.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Buddy Johnson and her sister Jacquelyn Varner.

Wanda is survived by sons Cecil Johnson and Robert Johnson (Pamela), daughter Lisa Tatom, grandchildren Eric Johnson, Michael Johnson (Larissa), Patrick Johnson, Zachary Tatom, Hayley Tatom, Nicholas Tatom, Chelli Birdsley (Michael), Kimberly Pursnull (Jack) and Sheri Gillis (Jason), nieces Kim Tompkins and Emily Tompkins, nephew Trent Tompkins and 8 great grandchildren.

The family will have an inurnment in Nacogdoches, Texas, at Old North Church Cemetery on Saturday, October 21, 2017.
