Wanda Jean Lister passed away peacefully into the arms of God on Thursday, October 26, 2017, at the age of 85.

Wanda was born in Bakersfield on January 22, 1932 to Charles and Alma Huffman and raised in Hanford. She graduated from Fresno State in 1953 with a degree in Education and began a long, distinguished career with Fresno Unified School District that spanned over 40 years. Earning a Master's from Pepperdine, she was the Assistant Administrator, Elementary Education until her retirement in 1991. She was passionate about education, especially reading, and believed that every child had strengths and capabilities to be nurtured.

She met the love of her life, Richard Lister, while both were employed at Montgomery Wards and married during her senior year of college, together they raised two daughters.

She spent her retirement years in Cambria, traveling around the world, reading, crossword puzzles, and socializing with her many dear friends near and far. She was an avid bridge player and and excellent nap taker... just had to have her daily snooze. The absolute light of her life was her grandson, Zachary; she loved him dearly and cherished their time together...her boy!

Wanda is preceded in death by her husband Richard in 1984 and daughter Rhonda in 2007.

She leaves behind her daughter Tamara and husband Al, grandson Zachary, several relatives and friends that were very dear to her heart. The family would like to thank the care-givers at A Heavenly Home, Paso Robles, for the excellent care, unconditional support and love they gave to her over the past few years.
