Born September 18, 1946, in Collins, Mississippi, Wanda Nell Easterling Savala was the third of nine children born to Luther Easterling and D'Lo Ducksworth Easterling.

Wanda's roots were in Mississippi. Growing up, she was a dedicated student. She attended college at Alcorn State University, an historically black university in Lorman, Mississippi. In her early 20s, she moved to Dallas, Texas, which became her home for nearly fifty years.

Wanda was determined to experience and enjoy life. She spent her youth working and traveling. She married James Savala, her beloved, March 15th, 1980 at Goodstreet Baptist Church, where they were faithful members.

Wanda and James had a loving relationship. They raised two children, Gabriel and Wandalyn. She took pride in her work as a mother. She was always direct and upfront with her children. She always knew what was best.

Wanda was also ambitious. In 2002, as many of her peers were winding down their careers, Wanda pursued her lifelong dream of owning her own business. She became a realtor in 2005.

Wanda is survived by her spouse, James Alvin Savala Sr., and her two children, Gabriel Emmanuel Savala (Kristen) and Wandalyn Estella Savala (Eric); her grandchildren, Gavin Emmanuel and Roman James; by her mother, D'Lo Easterling; by her siblings and their spouses: Howard Easterling; Paul and Dianne Easterling; Janice Easterling; Kathy White Easterling; and Denise Easterling Perry; and by several nieces and nephews.

Her family and friends will greatly miss her--but she will always remain in our hearts and fondest memories.

God has spoken. Let the church say amen.
