Wayne G. Whittum, age 88, of Mesa, Arizona, formerly of Albion, passed away April 22, 2012 at his home. He was born July 20, 1923 in Eaton Rapids to Frank Edward and Leva L. (Gale) Whittum. He was to married to Virginia E. (Vitale) Whittman in1946 in Angola, Indiana.

He was a resident of Mesa, Arizona since March 2006 living with his daughter. He served in WWII in the US Navy. He retired from Hayes-Albion and was a member of the Albion VFW. He enjoyed his newspaper and watching the Detroit Tigers play. He was one of the founder's (along with his wife) of the A.R.C. (Association of Retarded Children) of Calhoun County.

He is survived by:

Son: Frank (Leslie) Whittum of Marietta, Georgia

Daughter: Cherie Whittum of Mesa, Arizona

2 Grandchildren
2 Great Grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia and son William Gardner, parents and a sister.

Visitation for Family and Friends will be Friday, May 4, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the Erie Street Chapel of the J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 208 West Erie Street, Albion, MI 49224. Funeral Services will be Saturday, May 5, 2012, 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Rev. John Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Albion Memory Gardens, Albion Township.
